This mural concept was inspired by the legend and celebrity of the flamingo, Pink Floyd, who escaped from Tracy Aviary in Salt Lake City in 1988, and lived in the Great Salt Lake until last seen in 2005. He would return to the Great Salt Lake every winter, and be spotted hanging out with seagulls feasting on brine shrimp. My playful homage to him links the whimsy of local history with the breathtaking landscapes around Salt Lake City. The lenticular building showcases a view of Sundial Peak in the Wasatch Range, on the outskirts of the city, with Pink Floyd in a solitary stance. My intention is to build off of the beauty of Salt Lake City while playfully incorporating a unique and rare local story.
